MEMORIAL PLAQUES
Also known as the "Dead Man's Penny", these bronze plaques were given to the next of kin of all British and Empire soldiers who lost their lives as a result of the conflict.
Designed by Edward Carter Preston, over 1,355,000 plaques were made to commemorate those lost. Recipients also received a Memorial Scroll and a copy of the "King's Message"
Each Memorial Plaque in this section has a story associated with the soldier.
